All my pieces are original and handmade. My journey into the realm of jewellery came out of my wonder for metals, their relationships to the cosmic and planetary realm, and the element of fire.

 

Through the element of fire, the forces of form that live in the metals are freed and allowed to manifest as their own unique expression. I consciously hold this picture as I enter into the creation of every piece, always with the intent that this piece may be allowed to unfold into its own becoming. Silver, brass and copper interweave with one another, according to their individual natures through a process of reticulation which I encorporate into most of my pieces.

 

The name “Malakai” has nothing and everything to do with my jewellery. I was simply so moved by the story of a little boy who has an obsession with soap. He cannot resist pocketing the soap bars from every bathroom of every home he enters. His mother has to ritually wash each soap bar every evening and then place it in his rucksack for safe keeping, His rucksack accompanies him everywhere he goes and his soap bars are his most treasured possessions. His name is Malakai.
